In April we were supposed to come to Aldeburgh in our caravan and stay for a week whilst I did a concert at The Maltings in Snape. Inevitably both holiday and concert were cancelled. However, we have now been able to take our holiday. Sadly the concert with many others has gone.
One of my goals this week is to undo the affect of lockdown on my waistline and so I have been running beside the beach in Aldeburgh. I can’t help thinking about how Benjamin Britten would have walked along this very same beach and how the landscape may have influenced him in his composition. Britten was born in Lowestoft and so would have grown up with this landscape.
